For "Book of Mormon," that meant Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kristen Wiig and Paul Rudd. For "Le Comte Ory," that meant Rebecca Hall, Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy and Julianna Margulies.

Let's face it, and there's no contest here: The opera's attendees were far better dressed. This was a black-tie affair underwritten by Yves Saint Laurent.At least Ms. Hall and Emmy Rossum eschewed the traditional black for deep, rich jewel tones. It was tangerine for Ms. Hall; emerald green for Ms. Rossum, who compared her look to 1970s Lauren Hutton, at least on Twitter.
